RedOwl Design Inc. is a product design and engineering firm operating out of Durham Region with industrial design projects spanning from the GTA to western Canada. Established in 2019, the firm has worked on numerous furniture design projects as well as other industrial design projects for manufacturing companies, large and small.
The company is owned and operated by the father-son duo John and Matt Edwards. Together they have 35+ years of experience in the industrial design and manufacturing industry.
RedOwl’s work ranges from furniture design to automation to marketing. In the furniture industry, we have experience designing products for the commercial, educational, healthcare, residential and institutional furniture markets. We have also designed medical products, food products, sports products, pet products, industrial products and freight products.

The core team at RedOwl consists of Matt and his father, John Edwards.
The two have a combined 35+ years of experience working in the manufacturing industry, mainly in the contract furniture industry.
Their combination of engineering and industrial design experience gives RedOwl its unique ability to provide the client with an innovative, desirable and manufacturable product.
Matt Edwards, founder of RedOwl Design Inc., comes from the contract furniture industry with experience in both furniture design and furniture manufacturing. Matt comes from a background in mechanical engineering and holds his professional designation as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
John Edwards, principal at the industrial design firm, Hatch Design Inc., holds over 20 US patents and has over 30 years of experience working with manufacturers in the contract furniture industry. John comes from a background in architecture and design. John is actively involved with Matt on all of RedOwl’s projects.
